You see, they put literally ten thousand percent more granules on your asphalt shingles than you need. Because they know it’s naturally going to wear off. So that means, after ice has been on your roof, you’re likely to see a lot of asphalt granules around your house, possibly even more if you’ve got newer shingles.
When will an insurance company pay for a new roof?
There are really only two weather-related ways to get your insurance company to pay for a new roof: wind and hail. That’s it. There’s no in-between.
What’s your insurance company to do for ice? We’ve seen them come out and pay for the 20% of the roof that’s in the shade and then take your whole deductible.
Why do I need a roofing company to help navigate the insurance process?
Your insurance company is going to do everything they can to not pay for a new roof. Which is why you want an advocate like a roofing contractor when dealing with them. A knowledgeable, professional contractor comes out to your house with the adjuster, meets with them, and finds a win-win situation for the client.

Don’t fall for shady insurance claim tactics
I’m never going to encourage anybody to file a claim unless I’m 95% sure that it’s going to get paid for. I don’t want to waste anybody’s time. We’re not the kind of company that will go out and tell our clients to file a claim for just anything. Unfortunately, there are companies that will.
